Ask anyone who’s visited Sawgrass Recreation Park recently and they will say things like, “Sawgrass Recreation Park has a fantastic airboat ride tour. The staff is super friendly and the wildlife is awesome. When you come across an alligator, the guides make it a point to steer the boat near it, so you have an up close encounter. They are knowledgeable, skilled, and entertaining. It is great to gain knowledge while experiencing nature at it’s finest, and the animals in their natural habitats. The airboats are not covered, so no matter where you sit, you have a great view. Airboat rides are great for people of all ages! The tours last for about a half hour, and you could potentially see many animals on your ride! The vegetation is also interesting to see. If you’re lucky, you may even end up with a headdress made from reeds.”

Here’s what they are saying about our Everglades Wildlife Exhibit “The wildlife exhibit is an added bonus. After the airboat ride you can see more of the creatures that call the Everglades their home! Snakes, birds, owls, and panthers are on display for those that take part to see. They are all well taken care of rescue animals! They were pets that could no longer be taken care of, or animals that were hurt and needed rehabilitation. It is fantastic that they can rehabilitate the animals in such a great place, while allowing people to experience seeing them closer than they could in the wild. At the exhibit, you may even get the chance to hold a baby alligator! Although frightening, it is a once in a lifetime experience that you won’t want to miss out on. Be aware- there are also free roaming alligators due to the location!”
It’s always great to get a review our our park, but when they review your restaurant, you know it’s a good day. Let’s be real, how often have you enjoyed the food on an cruise excursion or park? “You must try the Gator Bite Tacos at the Gator Grill! Fill your stomach before you go, or satiate that appetite that you worked up while on the airboat ride. The grill has many items to choose from, but the Gator Bite Tacos are an original plate that you most likely won’t find anywhere else in the area. They also have a food truck for snacks. It is a great way to spend the afternoon!”
On your way out, there are many cute items at the gift shop. Wander around the various displays, and there will surely be something that you would like to have as a keepsake to remember your adventure. From plush animals to post cards, there is something for everyone.
Sawgrass Recreation Park is one of the stops for many cruise company buses, and is a popular Ft Lauderdale / Port Everglades excursion. If you have the park pre-planned, or you stumble upon it while looking for something fun to do during the day, you will be impressed. It is nice to be out in the open with nature. The recreational park is a family-run business, and they take pride in working together and enriching the lives of those that take part in their adventures. It is a must see for locals and tourists alike! You can even book a private airboat ride if you prefer.
