Sawgrass Recreation Park’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Group Adventures

The Sawgrass Recreation Park employees went above and beyond helping Hurricane Harvey. With the help of WSVN Channel 7 and WPLG Local 10 covering about our relief efforts, we have received more donations than what we can take on our first trip up. There was a long line of cars at the entrance of our park bringing donations. The local community in South Florida has beautiful warm hearted souls helping those less fortunate. We have collected an overwhelming donation of baby and kids supplies, blankets, clothing, shoes, first aid safety supplies, over-the-counter medicines, non-perishable foods, pet supplies, toiletries, water, pillows & blankets, and much more.

Two of the owners, Gator Tim and Big Mike drove two trucks full of donations, along with two airboats to the hardest hit areas of Southern Texas. Our guys came across a tent city that was established near Orange, Texas and unloaded all of the supplies, along with 40 gallons of unleaded fuel and 40 gallons of diesel to help people get back to the shelters and/or homes when possible, worked alongside the Marines, driving around to rescue people, and shared our sunshine all the way from Florida.

This is one of Sawgrass Recreation Park proudest moments where we came together with Wild Florida to traverse thousands of miles to truly make a difference in a few people’s lives. A warm thank you again to everybody who reached out and donated in any way, shape, or form – each and every one of you made a difference in someone’s life!

Sawgrass Recreation Park will continue to send monetary support and will continue to reach out to those that are on the ground to help everybody who was affected in Texas. Contact us via phone, e-mail, social media, or stop by our park for your charitable donation.
